You've downloaded the app but what happens now?
Firstly thank you for downloading the Tesco International Calling app, you are on your way to making low-cost international calls across the globe. All with the quality you can expect from Tesco.
The app opens up on the 'Keypad' section of the app but there are five sections (or tabs) in total running across the bottom of the app. We'll take you through these sections in our Getting around the app FAQs.
To get started let's guide you through making your first call.
Making a call by entering in a number
The app offers a few ways to make a call. The most basic method is to key in the number you wish to dial and click the blue 'Call' button. When you enter the number the pence per minute rate for that destination is displayed just underneath the number - you know before you press call how much you will be charged from your app balance, leaving you in control! Click the blue 'Call' button to connect. The app then dials an 03 local rate access number to connect you to your destination. (1) Enter the number you wish to dial using the international format (2) Click the blue 'Call' button (3) Let the app call the 03 local rate number (4) You're connected! That's it! You've made your first call. It really is that easy.
Local rate access numbers are normally included within your mobile phone network's free minutes but if if doubt please check with your provider. Calls to the 03 number are free for Tesco Mobile customers. |
We have other ways to connect that do not use the 03 access number such as WiFi and 3G/4G calling - please see our FAQ on 'Changing how you make your calls' for more information.
When calling internationally the number should be in the international format - 00 + country code + number.
Making a call from contacts
If you already have your friend or family member's number stored once you open the app you can go straight to the Contacts section of the app. You'll find this on the bottom of the app screen on the left. You can use the search button at the top of the app screen to type in and find your contact. Once shown, select your contact and then click on their number to call. The app then dials an 03 local rate access number to connect you to your destination. (1) search for your contact (2) select your contact (3) click the number you wish to dial (4) You're connected!
