Can I use an eSIM? Is my phone eSIM compatible?

Modified on Thu, 21 May at 9:47 AM

If you have a newer Apple, Samsung, or Google smartphone, most likely you can use a Tesco International Travel eSIM

If in doubt, you can check on your Tesco International app by just starting the process of the eSIM that you are interested in purchasing.  Once you select the country, you will see a green banner that confirms your phone model supports eSIMs.

But to double check, follow the steps below:

iPhone:

  • Go to Settings - Cellular or Mobile Service - If the "Add eSIM" option is displayed, your iPhone supports eSIM.
  • Alternatively, go to Settings - General - About - If you see a 15 digit IMEI number where it says Available SIM

Android:

  • Go to Settings - Connections - Sim Manager - If the "Add eSIM" or "Add carrier" option is displayed, your phone supports eSIM.
  • Alternatively, dial *#06#, if you see an EID number (not a MEID number), your phone supports eSIM.

Network unlocked

  • You should also check that your phone is unlocked with your current Network provider.

eSIM adaptors

Our list of compatible devices excludes all eSIM adaptors & all Smartphones, Laptops or Tablets that do not have eSIM support natively.

We only recommend using our eSIMs with Smartphones, Laptops or Tablets which have eSIM support natively.
